Holiday food hacks to cut time in the kitchen

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Holiday meals are meant to be delicious, lovely and bring family and friends together – but they can also hijack your time and sanity.

Emmy-nominated food judge, chef and founder of Savory Experiments, Jessica Formicola, has shared quick recipes that won't eat up all your time in the kitchen.

Cinnamon Roll Casserole

Ingredients

  • Unsalted Butter
  • Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls With Icing (This is the secret to making this dish super simple)
  • Pecans Or Walnuts
  • Eggs
  • Heavy Cream
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Coarse Sea Salt
  • Ground Nutmeg
  • Maple Syrup
  • Cinnamon Sugar

Directions

  • Preheat oven
  • Prep the casserole dish - add butter
  • Slice or cut the rolls into quarters
  • Lay them out flat in an even single layer over top of the butter in the baking dish. 
  • Top with nuts
  • In bowl - mix together eggs, heavy cream, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, and salt
  • Pour egg mixture onto roll
  • Pour maple syrup over dish 
  • Bake in the oven
  • Let rolls cool before icing + enjoy! 

Sausage Cresent Rolls

Ingredients

  • Eggs – You’ll need 4 large eggs to make enough scrambled eggs for these breakfast rolls.
  • Whole Milk
  • Salt + pepper
  • Savory sausage links – Pick your favorite flavor- homestyle, maple or even pick up some turkey sausage links.
  • Cheese- cheddar or clear out the cheese drawer! 
  • Refrigerated crescent dough – Just one roll is needed to make 8.
  • Chives

Directions

  • Preheat the oven
  • Whisk eggs + milk + season
  • Make sausage - 5-7 minutes until browned
  • Add whisked eggs to same skillet
  • Unravel crescent rolls + assemble
  • Bake until golden brown + enjoy!
